Katharina Matkevich & Johannes Gustav Varkki (Estonia)
Katharina and Johannes Gustav are dance teachers at Tallinn Swing Dance Society, where they regularly give Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag and other swing dance classes.
Technique, connection and leading-following spiced with room for improvisation and cheerful mood of Shag - are the most important aspects for them.
Making a strong emphasis on musicality, energy and creativity, their style of dancing is smooth, precise and often unpredictable.
They also like to perform and take part in competitions, yet social dancing is where the heart is for them.

Julia Conemans & Peter Schubert (Netherlands)
Julia and Peter have been swing dancing for over a decade, exploring a range of styles like blues, balboa, lindy hop, St. Louis shag, and collegiate shag. Their dedication to the dance has taken them to many festivals across Europe, and their most recent achievement is having placed first in the Strictly Shag Showdown at VLN SHG Fest.Their dancing is characterized by an energetic and dynamic style, and they enjoy drawing from different swing genres to continue developing their own approach. In their teaching, Julia and Peter focus on helping students build solid partnering skills that feel comfortable and natural and build a solid foundation for further exploring their creativity at various tempos.

Assil Al-Ibrahim & Loes Pronk (Netherlands)
Loes and Assil started dancing lindy hop years ago and thought they were happy. But then they found collegiate shag! A whole new world with camel hops and flea flops opened before them.
Ever since that happened, they cannot sit still when a fast shaggable song comes up. And of course they love to bring other dancers into this world of extreme happiness.
They've been teaching collegiate shag for years mostly in Amsterdam, but also elsewhere. Now they are looking forward to seeing those shag smiles in Rotterdam!

We will be offering 3 roles when purchasing a full pass ticket - Leader, Follower, or Switch.
Not sure which role to choose? We recommend that you choose 'switch' if you are experienced with follower and leader roles. This means you're happy to learn either role, which will be assigned to you ahead of the class! It helps us to balance the class between leaders and followers, which means it also ensures you a spot on the class. You will then stay in this role for all the classes.
Registration for Roffa Shag 2025 will be hosted on Lindy Plus. To ensure a smooth and fast registration process, we recommend setting up your Lindy Plus account in advance so you can secure your spot faster.
To prepare, go to Lindy Plus and create your free account in just a few minutes. Once your account is set up, find Swing In Rhythm under Schools and 'pre-register' with the school.
Once completed, you can register for a Party Pass or a full pass for a whole weekend of Shag!

Levels
Absolute Beginner - This level is to introduce you to the very basics of Collegiate Shag footwork and moves in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! You don't need earlier experience of Collegiate Shag. Maybe you have tried some tasters or short workshops but you'd like to recap the steps and strengthen your basics. This workshop will equip you with everything you need to step onto the dance floor with confidence.
Improver Intermediate - Following six months of regular collegiate shag classes, you feel confident on the social dance floor. You’ve mastered the basics and can comfortably dance moves like change of place, tuck turn, and shag out. You’re able to hit well-timed breaks and maintain a steady rhythm throughout a song. Now, you’re ready to level up! You’re looking for fresh moves, creative footwork variations, and stylish transitions to bring more personality and musicality to your shag. It’s time to expand your repertoire and make your dancing even more dynamic!
Intermediate Advanced - Having taken weekly shag classes for over a year (and maybe even experienced the energy of a shag festival) you've built a strong foundation and are ready to expand your skills. In social dances, you confidently take on faster songs with collegiate shag, incorporating a variety of footwork and stylish breaks. Your dance is playful and dynamic, and now you're eager to deepen your understanding of musicality and improvisation, making each dance more expressive and connected to the music.

The Kalishnikovs are an incredible swing band, bringing high-energy tunes from the 1930s and 1940s—perfect for fast dancing! These passionate musicians swing with their heart and soul, they know how to create the right atmosphere for keeping the dancers moving! No matter if you are a beginner, an experienced or an advanced dancer, everybody feels the vibe when they start to play.
